She makes friends easily, accepting people for who they are, but this comes from a sub-conscious belief that she is held to higher standards, and is therefore better then they are. FAMILY Father: Matsu Ebisu Ross, Ensign, Discharged, current occupation-owner of a successful Security installation company Mother: UNKNOWN, travels around the world, writing one letter a year with no return address HISTORY Born on a Naval base in Japan, she is the daughter of an Air Sprite and a Naval officer of Japanese decent. Her mother left her father after her pregnancy came to term, soon after his service ended and their return to his home in San Fransisco, too flighty to conceive of remaining in a long relationship, too self-centered to consider taking the child with her. Raised by her father and her human grandmother in a very strict home, she attended public school, receiving passing, if not stellar grades. She realized at a young age that if she concentrates hard enough, she can control wind patterns in her immediate vicinity, but after telling her grandmother and sitting through a long tail involving evil spirits and a cleansing ritual, never attempted to tell anyone else. Given a traditional upbringing by her grandmother, she is well versed in Japanese folklore, able to perform a tea ceremony and traditional dances, and play the shamisen and sing. Outside her home, on the streets of Japantown in San Fransisco, she became more interested in modern Japanese life, quickly adopting a love of karaoke, anime, and Harujuku. Her friends consider her stylish and trend-setting, a shojo heroine come to life, but all she can see when she looks in the mirror is a mostly normal girl, not serious enough to please her father, not beautiful enough to interest her mother. Once a year she receives a letter in the mail, written in delicate script, with postmarks from all over the world, and no return address. They contain self-absorbed descriptions of places and parties and fantastic events, and are always signed 'Beautiful'. She isn't sure if her mother means the life she is living, or herself. The only time her mother has ever offered any kind of advice was in her last letter, giving her the mailing address of the Tiberius J. Swann Detention Facility and a list of application requirements, and the admonition to "stop embarrassing the rest of your family."
